- Mortgage Problems
The firm is experienced in all aspects or real estate problems, especially contract issues. In addition, over the years, Mr. Maynard has increasingly focused his practice in these areas. We have handled many real estate partition cases and other disputes.
Recently, people in Silicon Valley have become more concerned about the quality of real estate construction. Yet, while the interest in quality has increased, building code compliance and quality of workmanship appear to have decreased. Contractor licensing issues have become much more commonplace, with unlicensed contractors performing more and more work. There is no question that unlicensed work and decreasing quality are areas of the law requiring attention. These changes have resulted in many victimized purchasers, including those with substantial real estate experience. Because licensing and code compliance are difficult areas of the law, firms with experience in the area are critical to a favorable outcome for their clients. Mr. Maynard has extensive experience in contractors' licensing and code compliance issues and is familiar with the most difficult aspects of this increasingly troublesome field.

Trust & Estate Planning
Our firm offers a wide range of trust and estate planning services for the needs of clients with very modest means to large estates. We handle matters including trust and estate planning, trust lawsuits, probate, elder law and problems with greedy relatives.

Wage & Employment Claims
While the firm was originally established to represent businesses in all of the legal aspects of their operations, we originally handled labor issues only from the employer's perspective. In the past two decades, however, we have experienced a tremendous expansion of our labor law practice to include extensive representation of discharged employees, negotiating severance packages and suing their employers when necessary. As a business law firm, we have always had very substantial experience in handling employment law issues from the corporate perspective. As a result of that experience and perspective, we have a distinct advantage when we are negotiating settlements on behalf of employees who have been discharged in violation of the law. Our experience in this respect comes from our unique knowledge of the attitudes, policies and pressures which can be brought to bear on employers.
Our experience on both sides of employment law gives us an unusual skill set in resolving cases and we continue to represent many small businesses and start-up firms.
Our firm is also unique in our approach to employment law. We firmly believe that a real and intensive effort should be made to resolve disputes through negotiation prior to filing a lawsuit whenever possible, due to the emotional and financial pressures which lawsuits tend to impose on all of the participants, corporate and individual alike. This guiding philosophy together with our extensive experience in litigation and business transactional negotiations enables us to maintain a uniquely aggressive bargaining posture. Of course, whenever necessary, we are always prepared to pursue legal proceedings on behalf of our clients through trial and beyond.
